Ella había traído su nuevo "juguete" un iPad. Y estuvo preguntando cómo sacarle partido, como usarlo. No se cansaba de aprender. Yo adoraba esa faceta de Irene, era una persona de edad y sin embargo no quería que el mundo moderno le pasara por encima. Siempre quería aprender. Era curiosa, apasionada, alegre ... tan alegre!!

Irene, cuántas veces he pensado que cuando yo llegara a ser una abuelita como tú (si es que tenía esa fortuna) querría conservar tu curiosidad, tu avidez de aprender.

Esa foto la hice con tu iPad y luego la enviamos por email .. para aprender. No sólo estás en mi memoria, Irene, sino que estás en mi admiración y siempre en el corazón.

I remember the night of the 4th January 2015, when Derek had invited us for an early dinner at his house and Irene was visiting Madrid.

She had brought along her new iPad and kept asking how to use it and how to make the most of it. She never got tired of learning. What I loved about Irene was that, despite her age, she would not let the modern world get the better of her. She always wanted to learn, she was curious, passionate about things and happy... always so happy!

Irene, I have thought many times that when I become a grandmother like you (if I am that lucky), I always want to keep the same curiosity and passion to learn that you had.

I took this picture with your iPad and then we sent it by email... to learn how to do it. You are not only in my memories, Irene. You will also have my admiration and will always be in my heart.
