A CARING MOTHER-IN-LAW

Created by Charo 5 years ago

Irene was always a very warm, caring person. It would be difficult to find a more attentive mother to Alan and Derek, a more generous  grandmother to Ian, Mark, Sarah and Laura. And was delighted with all the great grandchildren, quite a bunch by now. As an "old" newcomer to the family, I was always received with warmth and love. Never ever felt I was an outsider, even though in lots of ways we were very different; different upbringing, different beliefs, different backgrounds,.... I assume it must have been difficult for her to put up with such an unusual daughter-in-law, with such peculiar manners and habits. But she never made me feel rejected or excluded. She was a very tolerant person, particularly considering her background and education. My deepest respect to her. It was not easy to find somebody as open and welcoming in people her age. She deserves great recognition. And lots of gratitude for her unconditional support.
